Join us for a presentation by Marger Maldonado, followed by a community harvest meal!
4:30pm Soy de los Andes: Bilingual Storytelling
Poemas y reflexiones, conversaciones y canciones
The presentation is about the similarities I have found in Vermont that are like my home town and made me feel like home somehow. It will start with a poem, Mis montañas/my mountains in Spanish and English, and a question: What would you miss from the place you live at if you have to leave?
We will learn about animals that are similar to Vermont, Ciervo de cola blanca de paramo ( white tale deer) which there are only about 200 left of them, also lupine from los páramos, rainbow trout, lagoons, wild blackberries, rivers, and mountains.
5:30pm Family/ancestor potluck
With food created by trustees, volunteers and staff of Craftsbury Saplings, the Simpson Library, the Craftsbury Community Care Center and the East Craftsbury Presbyterian church, this meal will showcase favorite dishes from our families and heritages, and celebrate the diversity of our community.
This will take place at the East Craftsbury Presbyterian Church. Following the presentation we will go downstairs to share a community harvest meal.
This event is free and is supported in part by a grant from the Vermont Community Foundation
