Interwoven Traditions, a talk with Prin van Gulden

Weaving is an ancient skill which bridges across all cultures.  It is also a living and evolving tradition, dynamic in the varied practices of craftspeople worldwide. Join us for a presentation on weaving traditions and techniques past and present.  Prin will share her passion for this traditional skill which links humanity through time, and across geography, as well as deepening connections with our own creative natures.

The evening will start with a presentation that tours through these interwoven traditions  and some of the ways they connect us.  It then culminates in a hands-on exploration of weaving.  Guests will have time to explore a variety of looms and  try their hand at different tools and weaving techniques.

Prin van Gulden is a fiber arts and traditional skills educator and faculty member in environmental humanities at Sterling College.  She also teaches workshops around New England with a focus on keeping those traditions alive and evolving through sharing, and practical everyday use.
